Ann Weaver joined NOAA’s Coastal Services Center in July 2004 as a program and training specialist. Her responsibilities include conducting trainings on public issues and conflict management, project design and evaluation, and coastal community planning and development. Prior to coming to the Center, Ms. Weaver worked as the Coastal Training Program coordinator at the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve, where she coordinated the completion of a market analysis and needs assessment for the program. Ms. Weaver obtained her bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Washington, and her master’s degree in biology at Florida Atlantic University. She has extensive experience as a trainer in the public and private sector. As an industrial engineer in a manufacturing venue, she focused on process skills. She used her expertise in processes to teach those skills to other engineers and manufacturing associates. This led her to become a corporate certified learning specialist and instructional designer, where she conducted needs assessments, designed and facilitated courses, and coached multifunctional project groups through a six sigma teaming process. When she completed her master’s degree, she left the private sector to apply her training skills and education to resource management.
